Introductions Dialogue

Hey! My name is Hailey Manning and I was born in St. Helena but lived in Napa my whole life and just recently moved to Santa Rosa for school. I'm 18 years old and I live on my own with my roommate, a friend from highschool. I have 2 bothers and 3 sisters who I'm all very close with. I work at Big Lots here in Santa Rosa, come say hi :). I've worked there for only a few months so far but enjoy it.
My educational goal is to finish here at the JC first with just my AA degree and then deciding if I want to go on from there. I'm currently studying to be an EMT/Paramedic and working a little on my general ed courses on the side. I've wanted to be involved somehow in the medical field my entire life. I might eventually want to be in the ER but for right now I'm just working on EMT.
My goal in this class is to become a better writer, I've written my whole life, every since I could remember I was always writing poems, stories, anything about life, struggles, I write it all down. I was working on a book that I wanted to publish just haven't gotten around to finishing it. I have a really hard time taking thoughts and putting them into words exactly how I feel or want to say them so I'm hoping this class can help me a little more with that. I always like to get my work done early, it takes more off my shoulders and stresses of everday life. I'm usually always in a rush its part of my ADD/ADHD but I learn to handle it better as I get older.
Some little things the class should know about me is, I enjoy sports. I've played my whole life. Softball and basketball were my main ones but I've been involved in soccer, tennis, volleyball, ect. Just grew up around an active family. I spend as much time with my family as I can, being that I live a few hrs away its kinda hard but I make time and drive down about once a week to visit and be in my home church. & I live life like everydays my last, not really but everyone should ;)

Thanks for taking the time to read my autobiography! I hope you kind of enjoyed it, feel free to ask any questions if you'd like. Always down for a chat, god bless.

  1. Hi Hailey,

One of my students just completed the EMT program. She loved it and she loves her new job. She thought the program was tough, but she thinks it prepared her well.

Moving away from home and starting a new life must be a big transition for you, but it sounds like you have it under control. I've never been in driving distance from my family; I guess that's one of the downsides to being from an island. It must be nice to go home and reconnect with your family.

Wrestling your ideas onto paper is always a struggle. I hope you gain some insights and practice through our class.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

    Take care,
    Lauren

  3. Hello Hailey,
I enjoyed reading your intro dialogue you sound like a very strong, independent, goal oriented person. We need good people like you in the medical field. I also love sports especially basketball (GO WARRIORS!). I enjoy the natural high you get after running back to back games until you cant run anymore. I recently started playing tennis and all I gotta say is I think I should just stick with basketball. I sometimes go into Big Lots so maybe I will see you sometime. You really sound like your on your way to an even better life. Stay motivated and take care.

  4. Hailey! Its crazy to think that we lived in the same town together and are both now in the same English class. The world is just getting smaller and smaller as life goes on. But I just Finished my EMT at SRJC as well and took National Registry and passed so if you need any help just let me know! Im glad we finally have a class together and Im excited to see how this class progresses during the semester!
